Uganda government to provide free wifi Internet in Kampala City
The government of Uganda will start providing free internet to all Ugandans that access the capital Kampala.
This will bring Kampala into the group of cities that have made smart cities a priority. and spur the growth of the ICT sector in a country with very expensive Internet costs.
Effective
October, 2016, Uganda government through the National Information
Technology Authority will provide free wi-fi (wireless internet) in
Kampala city.
This free internet will be accessible by anyone from 6pm-6am, Parliament has been told today Wednesday August 17, 2016.
The was in a meeting between the ICT committee of Parliament and a delegation from the ICT ministry led by ICT minister Honorable Frank Tumwebaze.
